Welcome Reception
On your first evening we will welcome you with a reception at the Casino-Building, 6:30 p.m. If the weather is nice, we will meet just in front of the Casino near the entrance, in case of rain in the foyer.
City Tour
On Tuesday evening you can join a guided tour through Frankfurt. You will have the possibility to choose one out of six different topics (“skyscrapers”, “art in public spaces”, “criminality”, “immigration”, “train station district” and “history of psychology and psychiatry”) for the tour. Please note that you have to subscribe for your preferred tour at the reception desk as the number of participants for each tour is limited.
Meeting point for the tours will be at the reception desk on Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.. Alternatively meet us at the starting point of the tour, 7:00 p.m. at the “Hauptwache” (Underground lines U 1, 2, 3, 6, 7; S-Bahn S1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9). At the center of the square “Hauptwache” we meet in front of the Café Hauptwache – you will notice it easily as it’s the only historical building in sight.
Conference Dinner and Party
We are going to spend a beautiful evening together, having a nice dinner and party afterwards. The Dinner will take place at the restaurant “Lokalbahnhof”, where a buffet is offered from 7:30 to 22:30 p.m. Note that dinner and drinks are included in your conference fees! After dinner we will move on to “Stereobar”, a small club close to “Lokalbahnhof”, where we can dance in private all night long!
How to get there:
“Lokalbahnhof”. “Lokalbahnhof” is not only the name of the restaurant but also of the train station nearby. You can reach the station by S-Bahn (S3-S6), Tram (14&16) or Bus (30&36). The “Lokalbahnhof” is at Darmstädter Landstraße 14 (big street at the station)
“Stereobar”. Adress: Abtsgässchen 7. Get to the station “Lokalbahnhof”. From there, go down Darmstädter Landstraße, take the Schiffer-Street on your left until you reach Abtsgässchen, where you will find the “Stereobar” .
Hessian Culture Club
With the Hessian Culture Club we are presenting a special cultural highlight of the current JURE-Conference to you. Hesse is one of sixteen states (called“Bundesländer”) that constitute the Federal Republic Germany. Beside its capital Wiesbaden, Frankfurt is the most important city in hesse and the spot where the current JURE-Conference takes place. In our culture club we learn more about this fascinating and prosperous region in the heart of Germany respective Europe. After telling you some facts about hesse, we are focussing on great persons of hesse like the inventors Philipp Reis who invented the telephone, Konrad Zuse who constructed the first computer or Justus Liebig who revolutionised the agriculture with his invention of the chemical fertiliser. Moreover we will talk about the politics of the hessian sovereigns of Hessen-Nassau, which includes many interesting anecdotes. For example, we will see how the hessian sovereign Wilhelm I. initiates the founding of the Nederlands. Furthermore we are digging into the amazing history of a legendary family dynasty: The Rothschilds. After this amusing and diverting historical review we will be open for hessian culture which is manifested in hessian culinary specialities, dialect and humour. Dialect and humour will be illustrated by some video clips of the famous hessian comedy duo Badesalz. You are invited to taste hessian specialities like Grie Soß, Handkäs mit Musik and Äppler that will be served in a traditional Bembel. Find out how hessian people eat, drink, speak and laugh!
